I was fortunate to travel frequently growing up. My parents traveled for work regularly and we took many trips between Florida and New York to visit family. When my friends scattered throughout the country after high school, I became adept at using planes, trains, and automobiles to reach them. I especially loved arranging our plans so we could meet up in the theme parks!
These days I am a mom with an autistic son. He has made me much more conscious of how I travel, the planning involved, and making sure the needs of everyone on the trip are met. Accommodating him has illuminated the intricacies of travel that I never considered when I went jet-setting on my own. These new learned lessons have been to the benefit of all my travel companions and clients.
During the pandemic, I realized how much I had taken my travel-heavy lifestyle for granted. I wasn't at all surprised that I missed freely moving around to visit my loved ones. What did surprise me was how much I missed planning my travels. Since then, I have had the opportunity not only to plan fun family trips but also arrange major corporate events for over 150 people through my work.
I no longer take my opportunities nor skills for granted and use them instead to help others plan their perfect vacations, organize an ideal company function, or get to that out of town event they just can’t miss.
